Succulent Gardens Extravaganza teaser

I’m writing this post at 7:45am from my motel in Marina, CA. I’m about to head out to Succulent Gardens up the road in Castroville for the excitement that is Succulent Extravaganza 2012. I expect to post a full report on Sunday but here are some teaser photos I took yesterday afternoon after the BBQ put on by the nursery. It was a cool day with high fog—perfect for photography.

So many drool-worthy plants, I don’t even know where to begin!

I don’t expect to be buying much, because I don’t really need anything and I’m running out of room, but I always say that…

    1. Becky, that weird cactus on the right in the last photo is a crested form of a Mexican cactus called Myrtillocactus geometrizans. This odd growth occurs either as a natural mutation or when a growth point is damaged somehow. I think it can also be induced chemically, not sure though.

  6. Wonderful Gerhard! Great photos even in that crazy fog. You did a super job and I love them! What a great time we had! I think I took about 200 photos!
