Monday Madness: salad dressing colored car

Not gardening- or plant-related but curious anyway, at least to me: Considering the number of paint colors to choose from when you buy a car, why would anybody choose this color?

What is it anyway? Thousand Island Dressing Gone Bad? Essence of Flamingo? Or a new experimental Pepto Bismol flavor—maybe Saucy Shrimp?

And why would auto makers even offer this color?

I’m all for personal expression, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and all that stuff, but this is seriously painful.

I’m secretly hoping the owner of this car won it in a contest or contest—i.e. didn’t pay for it with their own money.

But I'm rolling on the floor laughing. This was the custom color of the early 1950's Ford my very first boy friend drove. What is old is new.

    1. LOL, I'm getting used to it. In fact, I can't wait to spot this car again. I had an email from a friend this afternoon; she saw the same car in a grocery store parking lot on Saturday, and she and her husband were commenting on the color :-).

  2. Easy to find in a crowded parking lot, though. And drivers on the road would be afraid of you. Very, very afraid. ;^)

    1. Definitely! That's why I have a yellow suitcase; I can spot it from a mile away at the airport baggage claim.

  3. My childhood friend Georges' family had a two-tone Ford station wagon(mid 50's model I would say ) that had a bottom half paint very similar to this color. Perhaps this person is pining for the good old days !

    1. Wow, a two-tone color scheme involving this hue is even wilder. I had no idea this used to be such a popular color.

  4. There is a cosmetics company (Mary Kay Cosmetics?) that used to offer their top salespeople pink cars. I haven't seen any lately, though.

    1. I think Mary Kay cars were pure pink. This was in between pink and salmon. Thousand Island dressing mixed with French.

  5. So the road won't be boring ? Imagine seeing all colorful cars on the road. Not sure that I would drive one though. But then, why not? Change is hard to accept sometimes.

    1. I'd never buy a car (or anything else) that color, but if it were free, well, that's another matter, LOL.
