Succulent porn from the Sacramento C&S Society plant sale

As I mentioned in my previous post, the Sacramento Cactus and Succulent Society is having its annual sale this weekend, May 1 to 2, 2021. There was no sale in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but this year's event makes up for that with 2 pottery and 12 plant vendors and thousands of succulents from $1 to, well, I don't actually know.

I took the photos below on Friday and Saturday. The sale continues on Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Come by if you can! For more information, check my previous post.

The sale is being held at the Shepard Garden & Arts Center in Sacramento

Flower cacti in whites, pinks, oranges, reds, and purples

Sulcorebutia 'Bicolor'

Mammillaria duwei

Very legibly labeled Notocactus vanlietii, but this doesn't seem to be a valid name

Same as above

Mammillaria canelensis

Tephrocactus articulatus var. papyracanthus

Crested Monvillea spegazzinii

Astrophytum capricorne 'Niveum'

Mammillaria bocasana 'Fred'

Eulychnia castanea 'Spiralis'

Neoporteria nidus var. multicolor, now Eriosyce senilis var. multicolor

Crested Lobivia famatimensis, now Echinopsis famatimensis

Crested Neobuxbaumia polylopha

Opuntia 'Roller Coaster'

Astrophytum caput-medusae

Aloe suprafoliata, easy to see why it's sometimes called "mustache aloe"

Agave victoriae-reginae 'White Rhino'

No matter which kinds of succulents you're into, you're sure to find something—including plants so weird only a collector could love them.

  1. The gloriously colorful cacti blooms make me think they'd make a fabulous "live" wall. Only little water is required, superb drainage and when they flower, the display will be out of this world. Speaking of out worldly: Crested Monvillea spegazzinii!!!

    1. It was wonderful being around so many cool plants. I was working at one of the cash registers for a while, and it was just as much fun seeing what people were buying.

  2. That Agave victoria-reginae 'White Rhino' looks like it's in a car, yours perhaps?

SO MANY FLOWERS! I think it would be kind of hard to buy a cactus when you can't even see the plant. Then again I guess you'd know exactly what color it flowers.

    1. The 'White Rhino' was in a vendor's car. I forgot to ask how much it was. I never saw it on her sales tables so I assume it was presold.

One vendor (Planta Seca) is known for his flowering cactus, and his tables are a huge draw.

    1. A huge success! And since only around 100 people were allowed inside the sales area at any given time, it was very pleasant, too.

  5. All the reds yellows and oranges. Wow! Plant porn indeed. Drooling over the Astrophytum. Have been looking everywhere for one but they don't show up here.
