Only one did not survive a golden bamboo. But the other four have thrived with a temp. range of 0-107 they have done very well. I'm in the process of dividing a clump of Black bamboo that has over grown its space.larsynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01892506432297889029noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1615100786320943903.post-83431145127602321172011-01-02T19:07:08.055-08:002011-01-02T19:07:08.055-08:00Shame that the SF Botanical Garden Society is now ...Shame that the SF Botanical Garden Society is now taxing hardworking people $7 to get in. The roads they put in (millions of taxpayer dollars wasted) have destroyed the ambience, and people have stopped coming.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06159129799816163205noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1615100786320943903.post-38339251997879750022010-12-31T10:58:29.142-08:002010-12-31T10:58:29.142-08:00Gib, I'd love to visit Tradewinds. We used to do a lot of camping in the Crescent City / Brookings / Gold Beach area, that was before kids.

I counted 23 chusqueas on your web site. Wow! Do you grow all of them outside, including the coronalis that I hear is so difficult?Gerhard Bock (Succulents and More)https://www.blogger.com/profile/17583583634141549759noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1615100786320943903.post-61215831493745069442010-12-31T06:30:13.049-08:002010-12-31T06:30:13.049-08:00We have a deep selection of Chusqueas and Himalaya...We have a deep selection of Chusqueas and Himalayan mountain bamboos that thrive in SF climate.Visit
http://www.bamboodirect.com/bamboo/catalog/mountainctlg.htmlBambu Botahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09376598403801446591noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1615100786320943903.post-5889856964280655992010-12-29T19:28:15.901-08:002010-12-29T19:28:15.901-08:00Gerhard, I wish my Th. tessellatus looked that goo...Gerhard, I wish my Th. tessellatus looked that good. Mine needs shade I suspect and even then, I'm not sure it's suited for our area. Thanks for this nice post. Last time I was there, our time was focused on the Japanese Tea Garden and the de Young. Next time, I am going to spend some time in the botanical garden. It never gets very cold OR hot. I just checked http://ggweather.com/sf/almanac.html; the coldest temperature on record is 27°F. 100°F was only reached a dozen times in the last 135 years.

But things change quickly the further inland you go. It took us 1hr 10min yesterday to get to downtown SF, and yet our climate is very different.Gerhard Bock (Succulents and More)https://www.blogger.com/profile/17583583634141549759noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1615100786320943903.post-29071110537212472732010-12-29T14:40:59.997-08:002010-12-29T14:40:59.997-08:00Oh why did I read this post? It would be so nice to be able to plant a bamboo and not have to worry about it.Alanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13393082652312828458noreply@blogger.com
