Greenhouse rat update
I have an update on the greenhouse rat situation (see this post from two weeks ago). It's short and sweet. The notification from my Wi-Fi- enabled electronic rat trap says it all:

I won't post a photo of the dead rat, but since it died of electric shock, it wasn't bloody or anything. In fact, it looked just like a living rat, except that it wasn't.
I'll leave the traps (two electronic traps, one old-fashioned snap trap) in the greenhouse a little while longer, just in case.

DeleteI had the same problem but they ate my Euphorbia! Multiple times. Also took the new growth of some of the smaller cacti that eventually recovered. I think ultimately the the owls took care of them for me.
ReplyDeleteWe used to have owls in our bay trees, but I haven't seen any this year.
DeleteI too waited on the unpleasant task of rat patrol. Rat activity quieted soon after putting out Snap traps. Garden had become party central, very annoying. The bait, peanut butter also attracts ants which the rats find distasteful. They are put away during daylight hours to avoid ants and to not hurt daytime critters. Nights are peaceful but last trap was was dragged off. I must replace before they get any funny ideas my garden is a rat haven.
