You can buy the one pictured in your photograph. It's the Ensete maurelii Red Abyssinian tree, and I can survive with flying colors with no summer or winter water. I have the proof growing in my San Jose garden: I have three of them, and none ever received any water past June. They are tough, just won't grow any fruit and can't take frost. Please go for it if you like them! The leaves get damaged fairly easily so it's rare to find one in a nursery that is completely unblemished. Mine had some broken leaves, too.<br /><br />I'm glad I got the x leopoldii.
